Alpha2Active is an injectable regenerative treatment in which we collect a very important protein - Alpha-2 Macroglobulin - from your blood, concentrate it to 6x the normal blood concentration, and inject it into areas of your body suffering from arthritis or inflammation.
When joints are healthy the joint fluid contains nutrients and lubricants to help the joint function normally. When joints become arthritic, the fluid in the joint changes and we begin to see substances that not only cause inflammation and pain, but actively break down the joint surfaces. Alpha-2 Macroglobulin (AM) is a protein made in the liver that neutralizes these damaging substances to "pull the attackers off" your cartilage, ligaments, and joint lining. As you might imagine, this profoundly diminishes pain and dramatically slows the process of joint degradation. A2M has also been shown to stimulate a healing response after neutralizing the "attackers".
When you arrive at the clinic we answer any questions you may have, draw blood, and process your blood to concentrate the Alpha-2 Macroglobulin. This takes 20 - 30 minutes during which you can relax. We then help you get comfortably positioned for injection and administer nitrous oxide sedation (if you wish) to lessen anxiety and discomfort with the treatment. Discomfort with the procedure is similar to any other joint injection. We then clean the skin with surgical prep and inject the Alpha-2 Macroglobulin wherever you're having symptoms.
Absolutely. If you have multiple areas with symptoms we can create additional Alpha2Active by drawing additional blood. The blood used for the procedure is quickly replaced by the body.
Alpha2Active is unique in its ability to neutralize enzymes and other substances that break down joint surfaces and soft tissues, while also providing a healing stimulus. The PRP treatments offered in other clinics help with inflammation and provide growth factors, but do not specifically address the damaging substances in arthritic joints that fuel the progression of arthritis.
Yes. With Alpha2Active there is a pre-treatment test that can done to determine how likely you are to be helped by the treatment. This test looks for a unique biomarker in your joint or injured tissue that indicates the presence of destructive enzymes. Research has identified the "pain protein" Fibronectin-Aggrecan Complex (FAC) as being associated with painful inflammation. The Fibronectin-Aggrecan Complex Test (FACT) checks for the presence of this pain protein and if it's present, there is a 94% likelihood that Alpha2Active will help significantly.
Absolutely. High-achieving athletes and others who demand a lot from their joints but need them to last can undergo preventive Alpha2Active injections, typically two times a year, to continuously block progression of arthritis. This is the ultimate luxury for those who love to be active and don't want to undergo surgery, or don't want the downtime of joint surgery. Renewal offers special pricing for those who choose a preventive treatment regimen to extend the lifespan of their joints with Alpha2Active.
Renewal's Alpha2Active treatment can be performed by itself, or it can be performed as part of Renewal's Ultimate Regenerative Protocol - a course of Renewal's Alpha2Active, Renewal's Bone Marrow Stem Cell Treatment, and Renewal's LP-CGF (liquid phase concentrated growth factors). In this protocol, Alpha-2 Macroglobulin is used first to halt the effects of the damaging enzymes present in arthritic joints or injured tissue. This gets pain relief started right away and prepares the treated area to benefit most from further regenerative treatment. Renewal's Bone Marrow Stem Cell Treatment then delivers a whopping dose of growth factors, exosomes, and your body's own pluripotent stem cells to get the ball rolling. LP-CGF follows up with additional pain relief and a healthy dose of growth factors to maximize the benefit of the bone marrow stem cell treatment. This stepwise, science-based treatment plan gives your body the best regenerative treatment available anywhere, helping get you back to the activities you love without delay.
Regenerative treatments in general are not covered by insurance. At Renewal, we've structured fees for our regenerative treatments in a way that allows you to save when you commit to the protocols most likely to get you free from activity-limiting pain and back to activities. We also participate in CareCredit to help you get the care you need without being held back by cash on hand. Give us a call today to learn more and to get started feeling better.
